An International Wildlife Xperience - The Iguanas of Parque de la Madre found in Manta, Ecuador

The Central Park of Manta or Parque de la Madre, is located in the banking area of the city and facing the sea, it is a place that is difficult to ignore in this city because it is very busy, especially on weekends. It is also an easy taxi ride from the airport. You will find a beautiful water fountain and a children's playground as part of the park as well.

But for those like me, there is something even more special. Not only does the park have lots of shade thanks to the abundance of trees, but the park also has a variety of iguanas of different sizes and shapes. Some of these iguanas will even allow you to touch them if you are very careful.

Recently the park was remodeled and had some construction. During this time, the iguanas were not in the park. Once the park was finished and open the Iguanas returned. You will find that younger iguanas are usually bright green and hide easily in the vegetation to protect itself from predators. As Iguanas get older they turn a variety of sandy colors and get considerably bigger.

This day that I entered into the park because my two little ones wanted to touch an iguana for the first time. This was not easy. I was looking for the oldest iguana in the place. The one that may be the first to arrive at the park. It was the one I needed to find so that my little ones could have the best experience and touch it. I walked and walked with the family looking everywhere. We looked in the branches of the trees and on the grass. It seemed like they were hiding from us. Then we went into the part where the children play and have fun with the swings, apparently the iguanas love children and people. They were right there waiting for us.

The iguanas like to eat a dried fruit that falls from the trees, if you approach and offer it to them they will eat from your own hand, an unforgettable experience, at night you can enjoy food in the park, for example dipped corn mayonnaise and grated cheese, it's delicious, it's my favorite, also hamburgers, hotdogs, sausages and many more.
